Thomas Anthony Slater

Thomas "Tom" Slater, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at St. Agnes Hospital. Tom was born on November 12, 1947 in Fond du Lac, the son of the late  Harold and Mary Slater (nee Senecal).

A proud graduate of Goodrich High School, Tom went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1971. On July 31,1971, he married the love of his life, Janice Johnson. Tom had a long and successful career at Mercury Marine, where he worked for 38 years. After retiring from Mercury Marine, Tom continued to serve his community by working at Marine Credit Union for an additional five years.

Throughout his life, Tom was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and four-wheeling. He was also a dedicated fan of the Green Bay Packers, never missing a game and often sharing his passion for the team with his family and friends. Tom's love for the outdoors and sports was evident in the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, teaching them the joys of fishing, hunting, and cheering on the Packers. He was a devoted family man who took great pride in watching his grandchildren grow and participate in various activities.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janice; his children, Carey (Karyn) Slater and Kasey (Dustin) Woxland; his cherished grandchildren, Alexandria (Jordan) Eldredge, Sinjin Slater, Kennedy Slater, Saleena Woxland, Addison Woxland, and Lydia Woxland; nephew, Joel (Brenda) Johnson; niece, Jodi (Jeff) Guenther; and his four-legged companion, Gunner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Elinor and W.H. Johnson; brother-in-law, Jerry Johnson; and sister-in-law, Karen (Krueger) Johnson.

Per Tom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held

Memorials in Tom’s name are appreciated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Tom’s family would like to thank Dr. Douglas Evans and his staff at Froedtert Hospital, Dr. Sameer Tolay and his staff at the Agnesian Cancer Center, the staff at St. Agnes Hospital 4 South, and his physical therapist, Becky for all their care and comfort.
