Phyllis Marie Bestul, 74, of Campbellsport, WI, after her long time struggle with multiple sclerosis and her current battle with cancer, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at the SSM Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac with her beloved family gathered around her. She was born on March 13, 1950 in Stevens Point, the daughter of Edmund A. and Regina T. (nee Piotrowski) Damask.
She grew up in Polonia with her large family on their family farm and attended Sacred Heart School and Rosholt High School where her love story began with her high school sweetheart Greg. She attended and graduated UW Stout in Education and had many fun stories and adventures like traveling to Russia, working in Chicago, and California
On August 12, 1972, Phyllis was united in marriage to her great love Gregory Bestul in Polonia, WI.
She had a variety of job paths throughout her life including, education, manufacturing and the restaurant business, but she fondly remembered working for years at Dalerono’s Pizza of West Bend WI prior to her retirement. She actively supported Holy Angel’s parish for many years, especially the mini golf booth at the parish picnic. She enjoyed may fun trips around the country, camping, dancing “frogging” with her friends, sewing and card playing. Most of all Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family and especially attending events that involved her grandchildren. Her fun-loving spirit and laughter will be missed.
Those left behind to cherish Phyllis’ memory include her husband Gregory, daughter Lisa (Scott) Swanson of Appleton, son Gerald (Dena) Bestul of West Bend, grandchildren Jacob Ortman, Bryce Swanson, Brennen Bestul, and Gabe Bestul, siblings Janice (Dave) Tzebiatowski, Larry (Sue) Damask, Betty (Marv) Bembenek, Kathy Groskek, Ralph (Helen) Damask, and James (Robyn) Damask, many beloved nieces and nephews, other relatives and cherished friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, sister Louise Cebula, and brother John Damask as well as many other family and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, January 17th from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm with a Rosary to be said at 12:45 at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 County Road B, Eden, WI
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 pm at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church. Rev. Mark Jones will officiate and burial will follow at St. Matthews Cemetery, Campbellsport.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Phyllis’ name will be established.
The Bestul family extends a special thank you for the care provided by SSM Hospital and The Hospice Home of Hope, all her caregivers over the years and the out pouring of love and support by all who knew Phyllis.
