Lynn Marie Schramm

Lynn Marie (Roate) Schramm, of Fond du Lac, passed away May 29, 2023 at Harbor Haven Health & Rehabilitation.  She was born July 21, 1939 in Appleton Wisconsin.  Lynn was the oldest of four children to Harlow and Mildred (Mickey) Roate.  Lynn graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1957.  While at CHS she was a drum majorette and cheerleader, which she was proud to tell others about.   After high school, Lynn attended UW Stevens Point to become a Home Economics teacher.  God had other plans for her when she reconnected with Robert Schramm after he returned from serving in the US Army.   They married on November 24, 1962 at the UCC in Campbellsport.  They welcomed their daughter, Angela, in 1964.  Bob liked to tell people “they were married the 24th and she was born the 28th” (leaving out the fact that it was 2 years later).

Lynn & Bob taught Sunday school at St Matthews Methodist Church, Fond du Lac.  Lynn worked for Wisconsin Tractor and International Paper, as a receptionist, before starting her career as a secretary at Giddings & Lewis in Fond du Lac (1964-1999).  After she retired, she became “Grandma” to a multitude of children at Mary Linsmeier School.  One of her greatest joys was watching her granddaughter, Holly, graduate from UW-Platteville with a Civil Engineering degree.

She is survived by her husband of 60 yrs, Robert L. Schramm, Fond du Lac; daughter, Angela Schramm-Schneider (special friend Joe Paasch), Fond du Lac; granddaughter, Holly Thomas (special friend Jake Poston), Madison, WI; sister, Beth (Bob) Hupp, Antioch, IL; brother, Bert Roate, Eden, WI; and nieces and nephews.

Lynn is preceded in death by her parents, Harlow and Mildred Roate; in-laws, Louis and Edwina Schramm, Sr; son, Bert L. Schramm; sister, Nancy Roate; brothers-in-law, Arthur Schramm and Louis Schramm, Jr and sister-in-law, Beverly Schramm.

Special thanks to the staff at Harbor Haven Nursing Home (especially Sharon, Lydia, Anne & Renee) for their love, support, care and compassion.  The team from SSM Hospice for their support in her final days.  Special thanks to her niece Mary (Jerry) Kuhnz for her love, support and guidance during Lynn’s final years…We don’t know where we would have been without you.

There will be no visitations per Lynn’s request.  Cremation has taken place and private inurnment was held at Rienzi Cemetery.  If you would like to make a donation in her memory, consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Fond du Lac Humane Society.
