Gerald Patrick Michaels

Gerald Patrick Michaels, 91, of the Town of Mitchell passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 1, 2021. He was born on the family homestead in the Town of Mitchell where he still resided on March 8, 1930, the son on Bernard J. and Margaret M. (nee O’Reilly) Michaels. On May 27, 1967, Gerald married Marie C. Klein at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cascade. He farmed the family farm (a Century Farm) and also worked for the railroad, Bolens in Port Washington and Adell Way Company.

Gerald loved farming and continued to make hay well into his retirement. He was a great sports enthusiast enjoying the Packers and Brewers. He always took his family on a Summer vacation traveling about the country and then a shorter vacation in the Fall in Wisconsin. Gerald had a great interest in studying history especially the Civil War, the World Wars and Native American History. He loved and cherished his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews; they were very important parts of his life. Gerald was very proud of his Irish Heritage and he was the last of the original Irish descendants in Parnell.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years Marie, sons Patrick Michaels and Shawn Michaels, daughter Colleen Michaels, former daughter-in-law Elyse Michaels, grandchildren Jordan, Brendon, Zander and India Michaels, sister Margaret Payne, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Ann Elizabeth Michaels, brother Bernard (Charlotte) Michaels and brothers-in-law Stanley Payne and Peter and Earl Klein.

Visitation for Gerald will be on Sunday, October 10th starting at 3:00 pm at St. Michael’s Catholic Chapel, N3604 Scenic Drive, Cascade followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 4:00 pm. Rev. Mark Jones will officiate and burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
