Encarnacion Estrada Medina, 84 of 506 Winnebago Drive, Fond du Lac, died Thursday, September 8, 2022, at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital.
She was born November 16, 1937, in Zacatecas, Mexico, the daughter of Hipolito Estrada Joaquin and Encarnacion Jaimes Medina. On May 11, 1955, she married Jose Flores Medina.
Encarnacion was an owner of a small popsicle business in Mexico while her husband traveled to the United States to experience what this country had to offer. She came to the United States in 1976 at the age of 39 and in 1977 the family settled in Fond du Lac where her husband had already established employment and residency. Here, she was employed by California Canning, De La Rosa’s restaurant, Green Giant Company and Oshkosh B’ Gosh.
Encarnacion was a devoted wife, mother of 14 children, grandmother to 9 and great grandmother to 12 and most importantly, a caretaker to all of her grandchildren. She was a strong woman who lived a simple and modest life until the day of her passing. She will be remembered and known lovingly as “Ama”, “Abuelita” and “Bis” by those who loved her dearly as well as her love of cooking and her tamales during the holidays.
She is survived by four of her children, Gerardo (Jane) Medina of Oakfield, Antolina (Jesus) Martinez of Fond Du Lac, Lorenzo (Susan) Medina of Malone and Dora (Seigo) Medina-Medellin of Fond du Lac and 8 of her grandchildren, Jesus (Guadalupe) Martinez Jr., Beatriz (Joaquin) Vazquez, Alejandro Martinez, Jaime Medina, Esperanza (Tyler) Tautges, Jonathan (Courtney) Gonzalez, Carlos Gonzalez and Guadalupe Gonzalez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose, 10 children, her grandson, Gerardo Jr., her parents, as well as several siblings, in-laws, relatives and friends.
VISITATION: The family will greet relatives and friends at Twohig Funeral Home (305 Fond du Lac Ave – Fond du Lac) on Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. There will be a Rosary Service at 12:45 p.m.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Mass of Christian Burial for Encarnacion will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church (271 Fourth St Way – Fond du Lac) with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
