Mable Laura Ziegler

Mable Laura Rohde Ziegler passed away Thursday June 7, 2007 at her home at the age of 68. She was born on June 29, 1938 in the Town of Springfield Marquette County the daughter of Edmund and Lydia Hansel Rohde. On July 3, 1953, she married James A. Ziegler, Sr. at Hope Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Mable was a member of Bethel Church in the Town of Byron and a longtime member of the National Rifle Assoc. Mable was an outdoorswomen who loved hunting, trapping and walking in the wilderness. She was a member of the Wisconsin Trappers Assoc since 1965 where she served 2 terms as District 7 secretary. She was a member of the Fond du Lac County Kennel Club since 1977 where she was an Obedience Instructor, an active member and served many terms as recording secretary. Mable competed in AKC obedience trials and has 2 Black & Tan Coonhounds in the American Black & Tan Coonhound Club Performance Hall of Fame. Mable was also known nationwide for her obedience work with her coonhounds. She was very well respected for her training of dogs and many strong friendships were developed with individuals in the dog community over the years. One of Mable’s favorite hobbies was getting Helgramites. There weren’t many perch fisherman in the Lake Winnebago area that didn’t know Mable. Mable is going to be deeply missed by all of her family, friends and her Black and Tan Sharpie. Survivors include her husband James Sr., 2 sons James Jr. (Jean) of Eden and their children Jim III and Sarah Ziegler and Brian Sr. (Beth) of North Fond du Lac and their children Brian Jr. and Briana Ziegler, James, Amanda and Jacob Gerig, a great grandson Gavyn Gerig, 4 sisters Lydia Doiel Sudduth of Rockford, IL, Tanna (John) Schowchert of Glenbuelah, Luella (Luther) Snyder of Fond du Lac and Larrie Mathos of Fond du Lac, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers Elwin Rohde and Phillip Rohde. Funeral services will be held on Monday June 11 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Church. Rev. Chuck Fluegel will officiate and burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, Fond du Lac and on Monday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the church.
