Irene C. Wettstein, 94, of Eden passed away on Sat. Feb. 2, 2008 at Hospice Home of Hope. She was born on February 28, 1913 in Antigo the daughter of the late Fred and Lois Hansen Zwicky. On Oct. 8, 1938 she married William J. Kranig at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on January 14, 1965. She married Ambrose Wettstein on May 1, 1976 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Feb. 5, 2002. Irene was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Church, Eden, previous member of St. Mary’s Altar Society and a member of the Eden Senior Center. Irene loved ballroom dancing and square dancing, crocheting afghans and doilies, plastic canvas, latch hook rug wall hangings and was an avid Brewers fan. Survivors include her three sons: James (Rita) Kranig of Fond du Lac, William (Kathy) Kranig of Oak Harbor, WA and John (Pat) Kranig of Fond du Lac, one daughter Jean (Harvey) Scott-Honig of Madison, 4 step daughters: Rosalie (John) Engels of Juneau, Louise (Jerry) Ottery, Betty (Jim) Welsh both of Armstrong and Carol (Jim) Mooney of Fond du Lac, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 20 step grandchildren, 36 step great grandchildren, 1 step great great grandchild, three brothers Ray (Jean) Zwicky of Fond du Lac, Fred Zwicky of King and Don (Vivan) Zwicky of Jackson, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, 1 infant daughter Nancy, 2 sisters: Ida Heyde and Flora Baatz and 1 brother Albert, one grandson Tom Scott and 1 step granddaughter Karen Ottery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday Feb.8 at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Hills, Hwy B Eden. Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate and burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Fond du Lac. Visitation will be Thursday Feb. 7, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home at 305 Fond du Lac Avenue in Fond du Lac with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM and at the church on Fri.
