Richard H. Ringhand, 63, of Mondovi died Tuesday Feb. 5, 2008 at home. He was born August 20, 1944 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, the son of Harvey Sr. and Florence Baumhardt Ringhand. He grew up in Eggersville in rural Fond du Lac County. He graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School in 1962 and began a long career in the carnival business. Richard grew his carnival business from two small children’s rides to a large operation that moved all around the state. He called his carnival Fountain City Shows after the nickname for the city of Fond du Lac, and operated it until retiring from the business in 1980 and moving to the Eau Claire area. Richard drove for a number of Eau Claire area trucking companies and retired from that work in 2003. Survivors include his mother Florence Ringhand of Fond du Lac, one brother Tim (Jane) Ringhand of Onalaska, one step-daughter Wendy Zell of Janesville, 2 step-sons: Wade Zell of Phoenix, AZ and Marc Zell of Thorp, and many nieces and nephews. Richard had many old friends in the Fond du Lac area and many newer friends in the Eau Claire area that he loved to help and who will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his father Harvey, Sr., 2 brothers: Victor and Harvey, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Saturday Feb. 9, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Twohig Funeral Home at 305 Fond du Lac Avenue, Fond du Lac.
