Marie Marcella Rentmeester

November 4, 1918 — February 15, 2008

Marie “Mickey” Rentmeester, 89, went to her heavenly home on Friday Feb. 15, 2008 at the Divine Hour at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, Plymouth with her family gathered around her. She was born in Milwaukee on Nov. 4, 1918 the daughter of Sylvester J. and Marcella Schneider Mikologic. Mickey grew up in St. Cloud and as a child she loved to roller skate. She attended Goodrich High School Fond du Lac and also worked at Infant Socks in Fond du Lac. On June 10, 1939, she married Bernard “Bud” Rentmeester at St. Claudius Catholic Church, St. Cloud. In 1941 Bud and Mickey bought a farm in the Town of Mitchell. As a farmwife she raised baby chicks and chickens. She sold eggs to the local grocery stores and friends. She grew vegetables and flowers (red roses were her favorite), picked apples, wild berries, hickory nuts, etc. and did canning and freezing of various preserves. She was a great cook and made “the Best” bread and poppy seed torte. Mickey also sewed clothing and quilts. She especially enjoyed music and loved to dance. Going to mass every Sunday was very important to her. Mickey was devoted to our blessed Mother Mary and prayed the rosary daily and also prayed to St. Jude. She was meek and humble at heart and a very giving person, never asking for anything in return. She was a people-person and loved her family very much. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society.
