Harold Albert Stopper

Harold A. Stopper, 93, of Fond du Lac died Wednesday Mar. 26, 2008 at All about Life Rehab Center. He was born July 10, 1914 in Baraboo, the son of the late John and Ottilie Belter Stopper. He attended Baraboo High School and graduated from the St. Louis Poultry Academy in 1937. He married Sarah Averbeck on Jun10, 1942. Sarah died in December 1973. He married Shirley M. Bruns Grube on July 10, 1980. Harold was in the U.S. Army during WWII serving in the European Theater. He operated Stopper Produce for over 35 years in Fond du Lac. Harold was a member of the Cathedral of St. Paul, the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. Church, Family and Work were the important parts of Harold’s life. Survivors include his wife Shirley, his son John (Carole) of Lansing, MI, his grandchildren Jennifer (Kevin) Parsons of Sevierville, TN, Alison (Matthew) Leonhardt of Honolulu, HI, Eric (Beth) Stopper of Dodgeville, and Lisa (Dennis) Fenrick of Green Bay, his great grandchildren Elizabeth Sara and Benjamin Harold, his daughter-in-law Lorna Stopper of Dodgeville, his step-children Linda Grube of Fond du Lac, Lee (Angel) Grube of Ramsey, MN and Lori Grube of Fond du Lac, his step-grandchildren Lee Joseph Grube and Heather Voigt,his sister Lorina Cowles of Baraboo, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Along with his first wife Sarah, he was preceded in death by a son Edward, a brother Ernest and sisters Ardena and Evelyn. Funeral services will be held Monday Mar. 31, 2008 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Fond du Lac. Friends may call at the Church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. A memorial fund will be established . Inurnment will be in Estabrook Cemetery, Fond du Lac, following the service. Twohig Funeral Home, Fond du Lac, is serving the family. www.twohigfunerals.com
