Mary C. Hayes, 95, of 33 Everett St. formerly of Eden passed away Wednesday Mar. 26, 2008 at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac with her family gathered around her. She was born on May 7, 1912 in Eden the daughter of the late George H. and Nora Mohaney Flood. On June 1, 1946, she married John E. Hayes at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eden. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1992. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Springs Academy in 1930 and Fond du Lac County Normal School in 1931 and Marian College in 1965. She taught in the Fond du Lac County Rural Schools for 35 years and was a past president of the Fond du Lac Teachers Association, Retired Teachers of WI Teacher’s Association. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eden, it’s Altar Society and was the organist and Choir Director from 1930 until 1943. She was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church in Eden. Survivors include her four sons: Gene (Kathy) of West Bend, James J. of West Bend, Joseph (Sherrie) of Fond du Lac, and Jack (Carol) of Verona, 9 grandchildren: Kelly (Stephen) Diederich, Megan (Brady) Forrestal, Erin (Bill) Kenneally, Molly (Andy) Ceelen, Matthew, Sean, Kevin, Katie and Ryan and 3 great grandchildren: Dawson and Nora Diederich and Jana Forrestal and 2 more expected shortly, one brother Frank Flood, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 brothers: George P. and James P. Flood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday Mar. 29 at 2:30 PM at St. Francis Chapel at 33 Everett Street Fond du Lac. Rev. Joseph Wolf will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eden. Visitation will be Saturday Mar 28 from 12:30 until time of mass at the chapel.
