John F. “Bud” McCarty, 80, of rural Campbellsport passed away Wednesday April 2, 2008 at his home. He was born in the Town of Ashford on August 7, 1927 the son of the late John A. and Katherine Becker McCarty. On October 20, 1951 he married Gloria Grohall at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in West Allis. Bud served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. He worked at Regalware for 20 years and farmed in partnership with his brother George from 1952 to 1997 and then with his son John P. since 1997 in the Town of Ashford. He was awarded a special diploma from Campbellsport High School in 2005. Bud was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport and the Bintzler-Waehler American Legion Post #347 in Lomira. He had a great love of his Irish Heritage, his farm and hunting. Bud dearly loved his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Gloria his children Thomas (Sharon), Kevin (Christel), Beth (Joseph) Stoffel, Amy (Randy) Geiger and John P. all of Campbellsport, his grandchildren Jennifer (Jim) Guell, Joshua (Elissa) Stoffel, Jeffrey (Misti) Stoffel, Ian (Jill) Stoffel, Laura (Eric) Stoffel, Melissa McCarty, Nathan (Aimee) McCarty, Megan McCarty, Sarah (Justin) Geiger and Rebecca Geiger, 14 great grandchildren, his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Helen McCarty, Bernice Sparacino, Bernard Grohall and Robert and Judy Grohall, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers John “Tom”, Leo, John V., George, William and Daniel and his sisters Mary Hron, Helen Marcotte and Alice Baucom. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 5th, at 11:00AM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church of Campbellsport. Reverend Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial will follow in St. Matthew’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, April 4th, from 4 to 8 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Matthew’s Church and School.
