Richard “Bopper” A. Gurath, 64, of Fond du Lac died Saturday April 5, 2008 at Hospice Home of Hope. He was born on October 13, 1943 in Fond du Lac, the son of the late Leo and Gertrude Chappy Gurath. He was employed at a variety of factory jobs with last being Bestt Rollr. Bopper enjoyed collecting antique model car and liked to play the lottery weekly using the same numbers each week. . Survivors include his special friend Elaine Hamberger, two daughters: Shari (Jeremy) Smet and Dawn (Dennis Duffy) Blau both of Fond du Lac, 4 grandchildren: Rebecca Timm, Jude Smet, Brian and Matt Blau, 1 great grandson Skylar Blau, 2 special grand daughters: Autumn and Brook, 3 brothers: Rev. Guy Gurath of St. Mary’s of Belgium and Ozaukee County parishes, Daniel (Shirley) and Mike (Marianne) both of Fond du Lac, 3 sisters: Delores Freund, Mary (Stan) Scherer and Barb (John) Wendtland all of Fond du Lac, one brother-in-law Jim Schmit of IL and one sister-in-law Patsy Gurath of Eldorado, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, one brother William “Bill” Gurath, 2 sisters: Jane Schmit and Christine Stiff and brother-in-law Ken Freund. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday April 8th at 5:00 PM at the Holy Family Parish the Sacred Heart Church in Fond du Lac with Rev. Guy Gurath officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 3:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will take place graveside at noon on Wednesday April 9th at the Calvary Cemetery.
