Evelyn M. Pelletier

Evelyn Pelletier, 93 formerly of 691 Crestview Lane, Fond du Lac entered eternal life on Sunday July 27, 2008 at Grancare Nursing and Rehab. She was born on January 18, 1915 in Chassell, MI the daughter of Oscar and Rose Lawrence Perreault. She married John J. Pelletier on May 21, 1934 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Chassell, MI. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2007. In 1952, John and Evelyn moved their family and Pelletier Wholesale business to Fond du Lac and purchased the Dr. Chase Veterinary Clinic on South Main Street. In 1955-56 they built the Fondy Motel at the same location and operated it until 1961. Through the years Evelyn was employed as a bookkeeper at the Powder Box, Royal Brass (RB Royal) and Pelletier Vending Service. She was the president of the FDL Federated Women’s Club from 1974-1978. She belonged to the Ledgeview Garden club and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed bowling in the Arcade Lanes ladies’ leagues and the mixed couples senior league at the Parkway Lanes for many years. She liked watching the Wheel of Fortune, Animal Planet and doing crossword puzzles. Music was an important part of Evelyn’s life, having played the piano and organ for many years. During the 1940s in Houghton, Evelyn and her singing group, The Choraliers, recorded two 78 rpm records. Evelyn and John were “snowbirds” for 25 years in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. In 1970 she traveled to Greece and in 1984 to Alaska to visit her granddaughter and grandson-in-law. She was a loving wife, mother and grandma. In 2006, Evelyn and John celebrated 72 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church for 56 years. Survivors include twin sons: John S. and his wife Kathy, with their three children: Wendy (Tom Wellnitz), Debbie (Ret. LtCol Roy) Krueger, and John L. and two great grandchildren, Steven Krueger and Kristy Pelletier of Fond du Lac; Bob and his wife Pat of Madison, his four sons: Bob (Lisa), Gary(Mel) both of Sun Prairie, Jim (MaryAnn) of Fond du Lac and Brian (Lisa)of Verona; seven great grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Amber, Kyra, Kelsey, Kiersten and Brennen Pelletier. Evelyn is further survived by her former daughter-in-law Mary Thurk of Fond du Lac, one sister Joyce (Robert) Koskela of Clarkston,MI, three brothers: Roy Perreault of Sheboygan, Gordon of Pinckney, MI and Lawrence (Phyllis) of Hancock, MI, one brother-in-law Richard Garnell and many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, one sister Loretta Garnell and one brother Chester Perreault. A special thank you to the angelic nurses and staff at Grancare Nursing Home, and Dr. Darrell Hay for their loving care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday July 31 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish St. Mary’s Church 63 E.Merrill Street. Entombment will follow in the Garden of Devotion Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Avenue, Fond du Lac and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 11: 00 AM at the church.
