Norbert J. Weiland, 83, died at his home on Tuesday, August 05, 2008, after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born on October 12, 1924 in the town of Ashford, the son of Herman and Elsie Zehren Weiland. On Sept. 1, 1948, he married Mildred M. Wiedmeyer at St. Peter and Paul Catholic church in Nenno. Norbert was a dedicated farmer and enjoyed this way of life in the rolling hills of Fond du Lac Co. Norbert enjoyed playing sheephead whenever possible and was an avid reader the remainder of his free time. Norbert was a lifelong member of St. Kilian Catholic Church in St. Kilian. He was the church’s trustee for ten years, a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of Casper Rehl Knights of Columbus of West Bend Council since 1964 and a member of Senior Center of Lomira. He is survived by his wife, Millie, his four sons and one daughter. Steve (Jean) and their children, Claudine and Ryan (Courtney). Charlie (Beata) and their children, Nathan (Lisa), Betsy (Ryan) and Anney (Sam), Mary Kay (Jack)Martin and their children Jessica, Tom and Sarah, James (Susan) and his children, Cody and Christopher, and Gary (Michelle) and their children, Kelsey and Kyle and eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by one brother Leonard (Rose), sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Elizabeth Weiland, Theresa Hembel, Rita Wiesner, Wilmer and Alice Herman, Rosemary Bonlender, Bernice Wiedmeyer, Clara Rake, Harold and Florence Wiedmeyer and John Burns, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas (1954), brothers Leander, Reynold and Edward , one sister-in-law, Agnes Burns and brothers-in-law John Hembel, Harold Weisner, Marvin Bonlender, Frank Wiedmeyer and Raymond Wiedmeyer. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, Aug. 8, 2008 at St. Kilian Catholic Church, St. Kilian. The Rev. Neil Zenthefer will celebrate. Burial will follow in St. Kilian Cemetery. Visitation: Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport, and from 10 am until the time of service on Friday, Aug. 8 at the St. Kilian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Leukemia Foundation or the charity of your choice.
