Sister Clare Hartman

Sister Clare Hartman, SSSF, 99, died Sat. Dec. 20, 2008 at St. Joseph Convent in Campbellsport. She was born on July 3, 1909 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of the late Jacob and Emma Sadoma Hartman. Sister has a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in Chicago, IL in 1941 and a master’s degree from Motana University in 1955. Sister has lived her religious ministry in education. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, Sister taught at St. Joseph School in Wilmette (1928-1933) and at St. Clara School in Chicago (1934-1938). In the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, Sister taught at St. Paul Mission in Hays (1939-1999) where she also served as librarian (1975-1999) until retiring to St. Joseph Convent in Campbellsport. Sister Clare is survived by many cousins, friends and the School Sisters of St. Francis Community with whom she shared her life for 80 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tues. Dec. 23, 2008 at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph Convent, 526 Mill St. Campbellsport. Burial will be in Sisters Cemetery Campbellsport. Visitation will be Tues. from 8:30 AM until time of Mass at St, Joseph Convent. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the School Sisters of St. Francis are appreciated. www.twohigfunerals.com
