Leander W. Schmidt, 84, of Eden passed away on Monday Dec. 29, 2008 at his home. Leander was born in Allenton on Aug. 17, 1924, the son of Emil and Margaret Doll Schmidt. On May 28, 1955, he married Alice Hoffmann in Sheboygan. He was a farmer his whole life and worked for Kewaskum Malt House. He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Parish, Eden. Survivors include his wife Alice, three daughters: Veronica (Gene) Jaeger of Waupun, Mary (Chris) Orlando of Franklin and Carol (Matt) Essmann of Brownsville; three sons: Peter (Donna) Schmidt of Eden, Jerome (Angela) Schmidt of Fond du Lac and David Schmidt of Eden; eight grandchildren: Eric Jaeger, Jennifer (Wes) Ralph, Tami Schmidt, Jereme Jaeger, Amanda Schmidt, Victoria Essmann, Nathan Orlando and Emily Orlando; two great grandchildren: Aydrienne Jaeger and Nicole Ralph; two sisters Lena (Eugene) Wiedmeyer and Catherine (Mathias) Schickert and four brothers: Walter Schmidt, Joseph Schmidt, Raymond (Betty) Schmidt and Ralph (Joyce) Schmidt. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Donald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday Jan. 2, 2009 at 1:30 PM at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 Hwy B, Eden. Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate and burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Dotyville. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM until time of mass at the church.
