Faye L. Skovsted, 76 of Fond du Lac formerly of Racine died at the Hospice Home of Hope on January 14, 2009. She was born August 14, 1932 at home in Racine, the daughter of Stanley and Louise Henke Haney Sr. She was a graduate of Rockford East High School in 1950. She married Gilbert Skovsted on March 7,1953 at Gilbert’s parent’s home (Kristian and Viola Skovsted) in Racine. Faye enjoyed needlework of all kinds including knitting, crocheting and embroidery of quilts for all her future great grandchildren. She was a great cook and loved to travel with her husband and her family. She was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Caledonia and a current member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Forest. She held many offices in the Ladies Aid of both churches. She was a member of the Fond du Lac Chapter of the Red Hats and its chorus and a member of the TOPS that met at Hope Lutheran Church. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Faye loved and trusted in Jesus as her Savior and very much looked forward to spending eternity with Him in Heaven. Survivors include her husband Gilbert, one son Russel (Cindy) Skovsted of Racine and 4 daughters: Dawn (Rev. Mark) Barenz of Mt. Calvary, Peggy (Bill) Pekrul of New Ulm, MN, Jan (Dave) Herre of Fond du Lac and Julie (Dale) Osterberg of DePere, 20 grandchildren, one great grandchild, 4 brothers: Melvin Haney of FL, Lyle (Sylvia) Haney of MO, Stanley (Kay) Haney Jr. of Racine and Gerald Haney of Rockford, IL, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Faye was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held Sunday Jan. 18, 2009 at 3:00 PM at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church, Town of Forest with Rev. Mark Barenz officiating with burial at the Lyons Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may visit from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM, the time of the service at the church.
