Donald R. Faul, 84, of 838 Cty V Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home of Hope on Sunday May 3, 2009. Don was born on August 1, 1924 in Fond du Lac, the son of the late Charles, Sr. and Marcia Kindness Faul. He married Shirley Ann Hanke on Nov. 13, 1948 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Don was a member of Holy Family Church for 30+ years. He was an usher at the 11:30a.m. Mass at St. Joseph’s Church. Don was employed at a very early age in his life as a baker. He worked at several bakeries in the area but finished his career as Lead Baker at Everix Bakery. Don was employed at Mercury Marine until his retirement. Don was known around the area as “the Candy Man” for his fudge, peanut brittle and other chocolate delights, which he made in his basement at home. . Survivors include his one son Donald J.“DJ” and his wife Ann of Fond du Lac, one granddaughter Justine M. his 3 sisters: Dorothy Whittaker, Mary Beck and Betty Holz all of Fond du Lac, 3 brothers: Ronald (Loretta) of Oshkosh, Fred (Dixie) of Neilsville and Ferdinand “Butch” (Rhonda) Faul of NV, 2 godsons: Tom Whittaker and John Goeden, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, 2 sisters: Barbara Goeden and Patsy Boettcher and one brother Charles Faul, Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday May 7, 20098 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth St. Way, Fond du Lac. Rev. Patrick Heppe will officiate and entombment will follow at the Chapel of the Risen Christ in Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac.
