James “Gene” McCrory, 89, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully at the Sterling House on Saturday June 13, 2009. He was born on August 6, 1919 in Town of Empire, the son of the late Leo and Mayme McDonald McCrory. He married Elsie Elsinger on Nov. 22, 1947 at the St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in LeRoy. Gene was a truck driver for Walter Schroeder Trucking and then Panetti stone which became Buechel Stone. Gene was a member of Holy Family Church. . Survivors include his wife Elsie of Fond du Lac, one son Vern (Marlene) Elsinger of Fond du Lac, 4 grandchildren: Cynthia Wojahn(special friend Dave) of Waupun, Steven (Lisa) Elsinger of Fond du Lac, Deborah Reddecliff of San Diego, CA and Timothy (Gail) Elsinger of Appleton, 9 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, his 2 sisters: Mary Walsh of Fond du Lac and Betty Goebel of Dotyville, brother-in-law Raymond Elsinger of Lomira, 2 sisters-in-law: Florence McCrory and Marie Roberts both of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson Thomas Elsinger, and two brothers: Thomas “Jack” and an infant George Leo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday June 16, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth St. Way, Fond du Lac. Friends may call at the church on Tue. from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. Entombment will follow on Wed at the Calvary Cemetery.
