Leo J. Janous, 80, of Campbellsport passed away Tuesday June 23, 2009 at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. He was born in Ashford on April 13, 1929 the son of the late Joseph and Agnes Bodden Janous. On October 8, 1949, he married Irene Joas at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport. Leo partnered with Joe Thelen and operated Thelen and Janous Auto Body and Repair until his retirement. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church where he served as a longtime trustee, the Campbellsport Volunteer Fire Department where he served for many years as Sec-Treas., the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus-West Bend Council and the Campbellsport Lions Club. He served on the Campbellsport Village Board and as a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy. Leo was an avid golfer playing in leagues at Camelot and in the Indian Trails Tuesday Night League. Survivors include his wife Irene, his children Kathryn (John) Johnson of Fond du Lac, Julie (Alan) Andrea of Lake Forest, IL, David (Heidi) Janous of Port Washington and Nancy (Dennis) Witkowski of Plymouth, his grandchildren Ann (Brian) Olson, Jennifer (Jayme) Hermanns, Elizabeth (Michael) Braun, Adam Andrea, Giselle Andrea, Nick Janous, Allie Janous, Marshall Witkowski, Kathryn Witkowski and Clare Witkowski, his great grandchildren Evan, Claire, Gabriel and Carter, his sisters Marie ( the late Orville) Mathieu of Campbellsport, Evelyn (Doug) Uelmen of Green Bay, his brothers Andy (spec. friend Pat), James (Susan) all of Campbellsport and Francis (Joan) of Madison, SD, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday June 26th at 10:30 AM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Campbellsport. Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial will follow in St. Martin’s Cemetery, Ashford. Visitation will be Thursday June 25th from 4 to 8 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 109 W. Main St. Campbellsport and on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the church. Memorials are appreciated to the Campbellsport Volunteer Fire Department or St. Matthew’s Church. www.twohigfunerals.com
