Maj. Clinton Elfers Voss, Ret. “Opa”, 97, of Fond du Lac peacefully passed on from this life July 1st, 2009 at his cabin near Sparta, WI. He was born November 23, 1911 in Kenosha the son of Paul and Clara Christine Elfers Voss. He married Brunhild “Julia” Schelper on March 20, 1948 in Russelsheim, Germany. Clinton proudly served his country in WWII and Korea in the Army Corp. of Engineers, getting his commission and retiring as a Major in 1963 after 23 years of service. He worked for the City of Fond du Lac as the Housing and Building Inspector from 1963 until 1976. Clinton was a member of the FDL Elks Club, FDL Shrine Club, Masonic Temple, American Legion Post 75, Izack Walton League and Salem United Methodist Church. Opa’s life was blessed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Opa also shared many years with his special friend Pepper. He will be watching over his son William and Nancy Voss of Ashburn, VA and grandson Erik, his son James Voss of Fond du Lac and grandchildren Dylan and Joni Voss and great grandchildren Isaiah and Elijah Voss; his daughter Juliann Haskins of Fond du Lac, granddaughter Martina and great grandchildren Collin Haskins, Elliot, Tianna and Meillo Schneider-Hamilton; granddaughter Emilia and fiancé Sgt. Gabrielle Webb and George, Oki, Maya and Beotches; granddaughter Hillari and great grandchildren Shyloh and Arian Hoffman; grandson Lee III and Traci and great grandchildren Chloe, Olivia and Levi Haskins; his son John Voss of Fond du Lac and granddaughter Sabine Brigette and great granddaughter Naya; granddaughter Miranda Voss and grandson Casey Voss. He is further survived by his brothers Frank and Betty Voss of Burlington and Darwin and Anne Voss of Delavan, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife “Julia”, his son-in-law Leland Haskins, his sisters Avis, Alta and Virgine and his brother Lloyd. Opa was a positive force for his family. He enjoyed building, bowling, gardening and the beauty and quiet of nature along with his family, dogs and birds. He felt blessed by the many opportunities his life had given him and loved sharing his many memories colored with his great sense of humor. Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday July 7, 2009 with Rev. Mary Austin-Council officiating at the Twohig Funeral Home at 305 Fond du Lac Avenue with Military Honors performed by the Trier Puddy American Legion Post.
