Arnold J.”Arnie” Comens, 86, of North Fond du Lac died Sun. July 12, 2009 at the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home. He was born on October 31, 1922 in Chicago, IL the son of Frank and Blanche Dion Comens. He served his country in the Coast Guard and then the U.S. Navy in World War II and Korea. He married Shirley Fowler on July 3, 1980 at the Church of Peace in Fond du Lac. Arnold was a quality control inspector of Nooter-Erickson Engineering, he retired in 2001. He was a life member of the VFW. Survivors include his wife Shirley of North Fond du Lac, stepchildren: Lee (Mae) Fowler of Eden, Craig Fowler and Kim Marie (close friend Rich) Fowler both of Fond du Lac, 2 step grandsons: Travis and Shaun Fowler, one brother Frank (Emily) of Norridge, IL and one sister Pat Galey of Elmwood Park, IL, one brother-in-law Robert (Kay) Powers of North Fond du Lac and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers: Bob and Sonny and 2 sisters: Dorothy and Helen. Memorial services will be held on Thursday July 16, 2009 at 1:30 PM at the Rienzi Cemetery Chapel with burial to follow. Memorials appreciated to Hospice.
