Leland E. Niemuth, 85, of Campbellsport passed away peacefully on Sunday Nov. 15, 2009 at his home after having a “good, long life” . He was born on Oct. 18, 1924 in Waupaca the son of the late Henry and Elsie Butts Niemuth. On March 15, 1958 he married Geraldine Jaeger Medinger. Geraldine preceded him in death on June 23, 2000. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II in New Guinea. Lee and Geraldine owned and operated Ironside Batteries near Campbellsport. He also worked for C & J Transport for 25 years. Lee greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the North American Hunting Club and won a number of fishing prizes. He also loved animals and auctions and was an avid scrapper. Lee was an aviation enthusiast and always attended the EEA. Survivors include his children Barbara (Michael) Camlin, James J. (Helen) Medinger, Diane (Dennis) Gudex and Kevin (Debra) Niemuth all of Campbellsport, his grandchildren Angel (Steve), Jeffrey (Betty) who is serving in the Army stationed in Iraq, Sheila (Steve), James A. (Sara), Michael A. (Crystal), Nicholas (Suzanne) and Morgan (Aaron), his great grandchildren Preston, Kelsey, Max, Braydan, Delaney, Audrianna, Syrenity, Jaden, Hayleigh, Jaden and Marya, his sister Ellie Fietz of Janesville, his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Betty Niemuth of Watertown, Helen Niemuth of West Bend, Delores Miller of Waupun, Jeanne Jaeger of Campbellsport, Orville Jaeger of North Fond du Lac and Helen Jaeger of Eden, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Along with his wife he was preceded in death by his sisters twins Margaret and Marilyn, Carol Baum and Lola Johnson, his brothers Raymond, Charles, Burton and Roger Niemuth, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jerome “Bud” Jaeger, Eugene Jaeger, Louella Jaeger, Eunice Beitsch, Eugene Beitsch, Mary Ann Durham and Bud Miller. Funeral services will be held on Thursday Nov. 19 at 6:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 350 S. Helena St. Campbellsport. Rev. Paul A. Cerny will officiate and burial will be Friday in St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Campbellsport. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 PM until time of services at the church.
