Raymond Simon Emery

Raymond S. Emery, 89, of Fond du Lac died peacefully in his sleep Saturday Dec. 19, 2009 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. He was born on Nov. 26, 1920 in the Town of Calumet the son of the late John and Louise Loehr Emery. On April 22, 1946, he married Rosemary Knaus at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. Mr. Emery served in the U.S. Coast Guard from Oct. 8, 1942 to March 6, 1946 during WW II. He was employed at Swift & Co. for 31 years prior to retiring in 1980. He was a member of Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac. Survivors include his wife of 62 years Rosemary, two daughters Kathleen Whittaker and her husband Melvin of Fond du Lac and Mary Nelson and her husband Monty of Phoenix, AZ, a son-in-law Marvin Davis of Brandon, three grandchildren Amy Davis Fisch and her husband Michael of Ripon, Lori Davis Miller and her husband Lenny of West Bend and Justin Gannon and his wife Leslie of Phoenix, AZ, two great grandchildren Miles Davis Fisch and Emery Loren Miller, a sister Eleanor Grainger of California, in-laws Marlene Emery of Sister Bay, Leo Knaus and his wife Alma of Fond du Lac and Carol Knaus of La Crosse, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter Janice Davis, two brothers Alex and Edward, a sister Catherine Osgood, and in-laws Copeland Grainger, Mary Emery, Majorie and Albert M. Hau, Marian and Rueben Koenigs, Chester and Sally Knaus, Valeria Knaus and Antoinette and Norman Colson. Liturgy of the Word will be held on Tues. Dec. 22 at 2:00 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Ave. Fond du Lac. Entombment and Military Rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials are appreciated to Alzheimer Research. Twohig Funeral Home is serving the family.
