Roger Mathieu

September 6, 1923 — February 3, 2010

Roger Mathieu, 86, of Campbellsport passed away Wednesday Feb. 3, 2010 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born on Sept. 6, 1923 in the Town of Auburn, the son of the late George and Eleanor Westerman Mathieu. On Nov. 6, 1943, he married Luella G. Wietor at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac. Roger lived and farmed on the family homestead all his life in the Town of Auburn. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport and the Knights of Columbus and he served on the Town of Auburn Board of Appeals. Roger loved to play bingo and cards especially sheepshead. Survivors include his children Raymond “Butch” (Mary Ellen) Mathieu, Mary (Gerald) Polzean, and Diane (Gene) Peters all of Campbellsport, his grandchildren Lisa (Scott) Olig, Tim (Melissa) Peters, Dawn (Anthony) Haliwell, Kelly (Rich) Kratz and Kim Peters, his great grandchildren Matthew and Anthony John, his brother-in-law Frank Fell, his sister-in-law Marie Mathieu, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends He was preceded by his wife Luella on July 1, 1994, his sister Arlene Fell, his brother Orville Mathieu, his special friend Agnes Zimmer, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Viola and Emmett Dyer, Alvin and Irene Wietor, Loretta and Tony Rafenstein and Raymond and Betty Wietor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday Feb. 9th at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Campbellsport. Rev. Charles Bodden will officiate and entombment will be at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery Fond du Lac on Wednesday. Visitation will be Tuesday Feb. 9th from 3:00 PM until time of mass at the church. Memorials are appreciated to St. Matthew’s school.
