Donald J. Uelmen, Jr., 59, of Eden passed away Wednesday Feb. 3, 2010 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 5, 1950 in Fond du Lac the son of Donald W. and Anne (Hughes) Uelmen. On April 22, 1972, he married Jennifer Kuechler at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira. He farmed in the Town of Osceola all his life, dairy farming until 1993 and then raising steers and doing custom baling and hay sales. Don was an avid hunter and enjoyed trap shooting. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport, a lifetime member of the Dotyville Gun Club and served on the Town of Osceola Planning Board. Don was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a well-respected businessman. Survivors include his wife Jennifer, his parents Don and Anne of Eden, his children Brad (Michelle)Uelmen of Oak Creek, Kelly (Matt) Vowels of Des Moines, Iowa, and Ben (Mandy) Uelmen of Campbellsport, his grandchildren McKinley, Ashley, Jack, and Reese, his sisters and brother Debbie (Ken) Grube of Mohnton, PA, Deanna (Terry) Butters of Cascade, Denise (Tim) Guell of Eden, Dr. Dean Uelmen of Campbellsport, Darcy (Jeff) Budnik of Richfield, and Dana (Paul) Berger of Oshkosh, and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dennis and Lois Kuechler, Michael and Mary Kuechler, Maureen and James Becker, Mary and Larry Reske, Geriann and Tom Fox, and Colleen and Todd Priest. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his in-laws James and Loretta Kuechler and his good friend and brother-in-law Gary Volm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday Feb. 6th at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Campbellsport. Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Friday Feb. 5th from 4 to 8 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 109 W.
