Clair Gene Dionne, Sr., 76, died peacefully surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with leukemia on Thursday March 4, 2010. He was born in Milwaukee on July 12, 1933 the son of Emmanuel and Dorothy Grahm Dionne. On Nov. 3, 1951 he married Phyllis Westcott. They settled in Barton where they raised their family. They then moved to New Fane where they operated a foster home for boys. They retired to Florida in 1990, where he started a soup kitchen. He is survived by his wife Phyllis, his seven children Clair Dionne, Jr. of Porterfield, Doreen Dionne of Campbellsport, Sally (Richard) Wellner of Jefferson, Barry Dionne of West Bend, Judy (Richard) Haendel of Eden, Jeanene (Gregory) Lang of Campbellsport, and James (Jennifer) Dionne of West Bend, his foster children Scott Turnmeyer, Dennis Krief, Tom Abitz, Jeff Manski, Joe and Jeff Petterman plus numerous children who were placed in their home for short durations of time, nineteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, his sister Joanne Cacchione and his brother William Dionne. He was preceded in death by three sisters Virginia, Violet and Beverly. Memorial services will be held on Sunday March 7th at 4 PM at the 5th Ave Methodist Church, 323 South 5th Ave. West Bend. Rev. Janis Best will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 PM until time of services at the church. The Twohig Funeral Home Campbellsport is serving the family.
