Monica Lucy Haessly

April 6, 1922 — March 9, 2010

Monica “Monie” L. Haessly, 87, of Fond du Lac died Mar. 9, 2010 at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born on April 6, 1922 in Byron, WI, the daughter of the late Albert and Josephine Kiefer Scharf. Monie graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1940. She worked as a bookkeeper at Braun Construction before marriage, also did seamstress work. She married Vincent Haessly on June 18, 1947 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Byron. He preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 1985. While raising her family she frequently volunteered her time to help elderly neighbors. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Community and a past member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Joseph’s Church. She enjoyed the many road trips to California to visit family and see the National Parks. She enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her two daughters: JoAnn of Fond du Lac and Jane of CA, one son Charles (Barbara) of Onalaska, two grandsons: Michael (Amanda) of Sparta and Tim (Leanne) of Onalaska, four great grandchildren: Joshua, Jack, Ava and Austin and one sister Marie Jones of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vince and one son John, one sister Rosie, six brothers: Albert, Sy, David, Donald, Frank and Jim. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday Mar. 12, 2010 at 12:00 PM at the Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way in Fond du Lac with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorials appreciated to the Holy Family Building Fund or American Heart Assn.
