Hazel E. Nichols, 83, of Fond du Lac formerly of Portage, Monroe and Rockford, IL died Tuesday Mar. 23, 2010 at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home. She was born June 28, 1926 in Monroe, WI, the daughter of the late Leonard and Barbara Metzler Krauss. Survivors include her daughter Georgia Zakos of Fond du Lac, her sons: George (Shannon) Goepfert of Rockton, IL, David(Shannon )Goepfert of Stoughton, Phillip Mahlkuch of Dillwyn, VA and step son Lynn Nichols of Lafayette, IN, 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved husband Yewell”Nick” in 2003, 4 brothers: Leonard, George, Victor and John, and five sisters: Margaret, Rose, Ruth, Lucille and Betty and one grandson Daniel Mahlkuch Cremation has taken place and burial of her cremated remains will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.
