Margaret “Marge” O’Laughlin, 88, of Dotyville passed away Wed. March 24, 2010 at the St. Agnes Hospital with her family gathered around her. She was born in the Town of Forest on May 8, 1921 the daughter of the late Walter and Laura Hinn Petri. Her family moved to Lomira in 1936. Marge graduated from Lomira High School in 1939, as salutatorian of her class. She liked school and probably would have gone to be a teacher, but her mother died at age 43 in March of 1939, so Marge had to help with the family. After a year, she worked in Fond du Lac for Elsie Brickle, who was like a second mother to Marge. In 1941 she met Willard O’Laughlin at a K.C. dance. On Sept. 4, 1943 she married Willard O’Laughlin at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church by Rev. Henry Riordon in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 2006. The couple lived on the O’Laughlin homestead farm in the Town of Forest and raised a great family. Marge was active in the St. Michael’s Parish Altar Society and helping with the school children. She also enjoyed bowling, playing sheephead, polka dancing and trips and belonged to the “We Love to Dance” Club. She also was a member of the K.C. Auxiliary and the Christian Women of Shepherd of the Hills Parish. She worked at the Town of Forest polls for many years. She enjoyed her family, did lots of gardening, canning, quilting and making white Christmas cookies. Survivors include her children: James(Cecilia) of Omaha, Barb(Geoff) Bares, of Fond du Lac, Mary(David) Mueller of Fond du Lac, Mike of St. Cloud and Tom(special friend Renae) of Eden, her grandchildren: Matt(Kristi), Maureen, and Brian(Colleen) O’Laughlin, Geoff (Kati) Bares, Ben(Erin) Bares, Elizabeth(special friend Tony) Bares, Isaac (Kate) Mueller, Sarah (Craig) Loest, Sam (Molly) Mueller, Jacob Mueller, Kristyn St. Denis, and Erin(Art)Adams, 18 great grandchildren, 3 sisters: Alice(Robert) Berg of Milwaukee, Johanna Rothgery of CA and Betty Jerke of Fond du Lac, one sister-in-law Mary Monica Wagner of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers: Robert and George and 1 sister Barbara Shea and 3 brother-in-laws: Harvy Wagner, Gordon Shea and Grover Rothgery. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday March 27 at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church W1562 Hwy B Eden. Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate with committal services at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum Chapel-Ledegeview Memorial Park. Friends may call on Friday March 26 at the church from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and again on Sat from 10AM until 11AM. Memorials are appreciated to Shepherd of the Hills.
