Lawrence Edward "Ed" McEnroe, 73, of Rhinelander passed away into God’s loving arms Tuesday Oct. 5, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Anderson, Ohio. Ed was born in Fond du Lac on July 31, 1937 the son of the late Lawrence and Florence McEnroe. Ed graduated from Goodrich High School and UW Oshkosh. On June 14, 1958, he married Joan Wimberger at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eden. He served in the Army Reserves for 6 years and worked for 30 years for the Department of Defense. Together with Joan they owned and operated Norwood Resort in Rhinelander for 25 years. Ed was the beloved husband of Joan McEnroe, treasured Father of Lawrence Edward "Larry" McEnroe III (Celia), Julie Anne Jacobs (John), Michael James McEnroe (Addy), Catherine Joan Donovan (Will), Patrick David McEnroe (Valerie), Lisa Marie LaPorte (Dave), and Elizabeth Rose McEnroe (Paul) and dear grandfather of Ed, John, Caitlin, Patrick, Adam, Meghan, Erin, Kelly, Matthew, Kyla, Josh, Ryan, Benjamin, and Libbie He is also survived by sisters Rosemary Berg and Patty (Bill) Ales and brothers John (Ruth) McEnroe and Pat (Mary) McEnroe, and sisters and brothers-in law: Jim (Sue) Wimberger, Mary Sadoff, Marcy (Denny) Loehr, Jeanne Nett, Joe (Jane) Wimberger and many nephews and nieces. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Kathleen Winkel, brothers-in-law Bill Berg, Bert Winkel, Dick Sadoff, and Frank Nett. Visitation-Family and friends will gather for visitation Friday Oct. 8th from 4 to 8 PM at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1563 Hwy B Eden with a rosary service at 7:30 PM and on Saturday Oct. 9th from 10 to 11 AM at the church. Service-Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday Oct. 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Eden. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memoriam to: Wisconsin Right to Life, 10625 W.
