Aleita Teresa Soyk

Aleita T. Soyk, 83, formerly of Eden passed away Wed. Nov. 17, 2010 at her home the Christian Homestead in Waupun after residing there for 4 years. She was born in Eden on Aug. 7, 1927 the daughter of the late Benedict and Wilhemina Gantner Kohlman. She was a 1945 graduate of Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac. On May 11, 1946 Aleita married Royal R. Soyk at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eden. They were married for 61 years, Royal preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2006. She loved and raised a family in Eden, while helping with farm work, gardening, and planting flowers. She also worked part-time cleaning houses, this included working 20 plus years for Irving Koren in Eden. Aleita was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, Eden and was president of St. Mary’s Altar Society and helped with many other church functions for St. Mary’s Church. She and Royal enjoyed bowling in mixed couples leagues and playing sheephead with friends. She loved to sew, cook, and bake for family and others, and made a quilt or two. She loved music and most of all to sing a familiar song and dance with her husband. Everyone she met, she greeted with a smile! Survivors include her daughter Maureen Abler of Eden, her son Roger (Wendy) Soyk of Eden, her grandchildren Collin(Sandra Arellano) Abler of Eden, Nathan, Christian Abler of Fond du Lac and Trina (Jeremy Hundertmark) Abler of Fond du Lac; and Nick (Colleen O’Laughlin)Soyk of VA, Jared , Shanna, Samantha, Sarah and Ashley Soyk of Eden, her brothers Lyneis (Marion) Kohlman of Mt. Calvary and Ambrose (Marilyn) Kohlman of Eden, her sister Helen Hughes of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother and sister-in-laws and one grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday Nov. 22nd `at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church W1562 Hwy B Eden. Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate and burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eden. Visitation will be Sunday Nov. 21st from 4 to 8 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home 305 Fond du Lac Avenue Fond du Lac and Monday Nov. 22nd at the church from 10:00 to time of mass.
