Hilton G. “Corky” Danielson, age 93, loved the game of golf and has gone on to play the 19th hole. Corky died November 29th, 2010 at Cedar Bay East in West Bend, with loved ones at his side. His family cared for him 24 hours a day during his last week of life. Corky was the son of the late Oscar and Edna Danielson. He was born in Rushford, Minnesota on August 27, 1918. He grew up in Clayton, Wisconsin and was valedictorian of his High School class. He attended college in River Falls. He married the love of his life, Lorraine Fellrath, who survives him. The marriage lasted 70 ½ years (that is not a misprint)! He’s further survived by their four children (all born in Amery, Wisconsin); Vicki (Terry) Tighe of West Bend, Larry (Judy) Danielson of Campbellsport, Sharon (Denny) Hoier of Hortonville, and Randy Danielson of Newburg, 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Mildred Amans of Amery, his sister-in-law Colleen Fellrath of Hudson, very special nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, a beloved daughter-in-law Mary Kay Danielson, and cousins. He was deeply devoted to his family and will be dearly missed as the Patriarch of the Danielson family. Just as he loved his family, they too loved and cared for him. He was all-accepting and never judgmental. We were fortunate to have shared his life and thank him for his courage and strength in adversity. Dad was a voracious reader and had a thirst for knowledge in a wide variety of subjects. He actively played MANY and varied card games with several groups. His love of travel took him and mom to 5 continents, 41 countries and all 50 states. His favorite trip being time spent at a Tuscan villa with three generations of his family. He valued old and new friendships, having spent many winters in Tuczon, Arizona with their Campbellsport friends. With grace and charm, he continued to make new friends until the end of his life at Cedar Bay East and West in West Bend. Dad was widely respected in the Italian cheese industry. He was a valued management employee of Stella Cheese Company and Universal Foods in Clayton, Campbellsport and Milwaukee. Later he consulted for them in New York. There will be a private memorial service at Twohig Funeral Home in Campbellsport on Saturday, December 4th. There will be a military graveside service in Union Cemetery, Campbellsport as he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army in WWII. If desired, memorials are greatly appreciated to Corky’s great-grandson who was recently paralyzed in a car accident.
