Bernard “Bud” M. Rentmeester, age 99, entered peacefully into eternal life on Monday Dec. 13, 2010 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, Plymouth where he had been a resident the past three years. He was born on Oct. 13, 1911 in Green Bay, the son of John and Gertrude (Heezen) Rentmeester. When Bud was a young boy, he moved to the Town of Mitchell with his parents and siblings where he grew up on a farm. At an early age, he quit school to help his Dad farm and log trees in the woods. In 1935-36 Bud worked at Kohler Co. and lived at the American Club. Later he worked for the State to build Highway 67. Bud met Marie (Mickey) Mikologic at a dance and they married on June 10, 1939 at St. Claudius Catholic Church, St. Cloud. Bud helped his parents farm until 1941, when he and Mickey bought their own farm in the Town of Mitchell. They had milking cows, raised calves, pigs and chickens and farmed the land; Bud also repaired his own machinery. He was a hard worker and took care of his family whom he loved very much. Bud was an avid sheepshead player and reader, especially Western books, and enjoyed music, dancing, fishing, deer hunting, and doing scratch-offs. Year ago when he was deer hunting, he bagged two black bears. Bud was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Parish and prior to that St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Mitchell. Bud is survived by four sons Larry (Martha), Clarence, Donald (Annie) and Dick (Libby) all of rural Plymouth, four daughters Ann (John) Bins/Koepke of rural Plymouth, Janie (Bill) Galligan/Seidel of Fond du Lac, Linda Versch (special friend Dennis Lanphear) of Arbor Vitae and Brenda (Rick) Pyle of Appleton, a daughter-in-law Rita Rentmeester of rural Campbellsport, 31 grandchildren Lisa (Tom) Grunwald of Campbellsport, Tammy Jo (Rich) Balzar of Oshkosh, Kevin Rentmeester of rural Campbellsport, Donna (Jerry) Cain of Plymouth, Joe (Julie) Bins of rural Plymouth, Terry (Jackie) Rentmeester of Glenbeulah, Pearl (Chris) Laux of Racine, Mike (Stacy) Rentmeester of rural Glenbeulah, Betty Rentmeester of Plymouth, Debbie Bruggink/Phillips of Plymouth, Tim (Patti) Galligan, of rural Milton, Mark (Connie) Galligan of rural Malone, Lora (Rich) Westemeiter of North Fond du Lac, Carla (Pat) Nicolaus of Plymouth, Neil (Linda) Rentmeester of rural Elkhart Lake, Dawn (Mike) Thrall/Fechhelm of rural Fond du Lac, Jonathon (Danielle)Rentmeester of Plymouth, Noel (Jen) Versch of Sobieski, Monica (Jeff) Kassing of Madison, Erica (Mike) Rytilahti of LaCrescent, MN, Amanda Versch of Madison, Amy (Larry) Donaldson of rural Fond du Lac, Matt Rentmeester of rural Waupun, Lee (Becky) Rentmeester of rural Plymouth, Bob Rentmeester of Plymouth, Dayna Rentmeester of Coreallis, OR, Jason Rentmeester of GermanTown, Jacob, Ashley, Jessica and Wesley Pyle of Appleton, one step granddaughter Liz Seidel of Portland, ME 45 great grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Jean Miller of Cascade, Peggy Rentmeester of Plymouth, Janet and Mary Rentmeester of rural Plymouth and Sandra Mikologic of Plymouth nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Bud was the ninth of 14 children and the last sibling to pass away. Bernard was preceded in death by, his wife Marie on Feb. 15, 2008, a son Llewellyn, a son-in-law Bernard Bins, great granddaughters Jade Thrall and Beth Ann Galligan. Also his parents John and Gertrude, seven sisters and spouses Mary (Al) Ambrosius, Nell (Joe) Dwyre, Kate (Harry) Wolever, Heinie (Ransom) Meyer, Bertha (Steve) Hecker/McKernan, Margaret Rentmeester and Jeanette (Ralph) Huberty, six brothers and spouses Bert (Olga), Andy (Agnes), Tony (Jen), Lou, Clem and Bob Rentmeester, his father and mother-in-law Sylvester and Marcella Mikologic, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Winnie Mikologic, Bernard Miller and a nephew Scott Mikologic Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday Dec. 16th at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 County Rd. B Eden. Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate and burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Parnell. Visitation will be Thursday Dec. 16 from 9:00 AM until time of mass at the CHURCH. A memorial fund or the charity of choice is being established in Bernard’s name.
