Gene C. Petersen, 79, of Aniwa formerly of Campbellsport passed away on Friday January 21, 2011 at LeRoyer Hospice in Antigo. He was born in Waupaca County on December 17, 1931 the son of the late Alfred and Marian Gray Petersen. Gene served in the U. S. Army National Guard for a number of years. Gene worked at Regalware for a short time and then at Meyer Ford in Campbellsport for 34 years until retiring. In retirement Gene worked part time at Tom’s Quality Millwork and at Nichols Five Star Charters and after moving to Aniwa nine years ago he worked for Fleischman Potato Farm. Gene loved the outdoors enjoying fishing and hunting. He was a John Wayne fan, a Packer fan and a great story and joke teller. Gene had a special appreciation and dedication to his family all of which he loved very much. Survivors include his children Barbara (Rick) Heisler, Jim (Lois) Petersen, Joe (Linda) Petersen, Bev (Randy) Kreif all of Campbellsport and Bonnie (Russell) Niemuth of Kewaskum, 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, his special friend Barb Thelen of Aniwa, his brother Duane (Georgia) Petersen of Campbellsport, his former wife Joan Petersen of Campbellsport, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and his faithful companion Misty. He was preceded in death by his great granddaughter Madison Gruber. Memorial services will be held on Wed. January 26, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home 109 W. Main St. Campbellsport.
