Duane Gary Thomas of Fond du Lac died Sunday March 13, 2011 at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. He was born Dec. 6, 1943 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh to Harvey and Viola Thomas. He went to Oshkosh West High School where he graduated in 1963. While in School, he was in FFA and helped on the family farm. On Nov. 14, 1964 he married Paulette Burgess. On July 28, 1999, he married Nancy McGrath. He worked at Mercury Marine for some 35 years and retired in 2006. He also worked on farms as a second job. Duane loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife Nancy, two children his son Jeff (Tracy) Thomas and his daughter Shari (Michael) Thomas-Vande Burdt, two grandchildren Zach and McKenna Thomas, his seven stepchildren Rich (Tammy) Smith, Jeff (Tammy) Smith, Tracy McGrath, Kelly (Tim) Twohig, Pat (Kim) McGrath, Brenda McGrath and Amy (Nick) Teifke, his step grandchildren Rich, Katrina, Cory, Collin, Forrest, Quentin, Millie, Mason, Lexi, Shaun, Juan, Diago, and Braeden, his brother Harvey Thomas, Jr. and his sisters Jeanette Diakoff, June Kehl and Nancy Kind. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Paulette, a nephew Randy Thomas, a sister-in-law Amber Thomas and three brothers-in-law George Diakoff, Wayne Kehl and Eugene Kind. Memorial services will be held on Wed. March 16, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Twohig Funeral Home at 305 Fond du Lac Avenue Fond du Lac with Rev. Brent Balken officiating.
