David Andrew Marcinko of Oswego, Il passed away at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL on Tuesday April 12, 2011. Dave was born on October 18, 1963 in Elmhurst, IL, the son of James and Joan (Skrabel) Marcinko. He grew up in Winfield, IL. Dave graduated from Wheaton Academy in 1982. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he met the “love of his life”, Patti Twohig. Dave and Patti were married on July 23, 1994 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eden, WI. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Micaila Kelly in 1998 and Egan Robert in 2002. Dave and his family moved to Oswego in 2003 to build their home and family life. Dave loved the Oswego Community and soon became a very involved member in it. He coached soccer, t-ball and baseball for the Osewegoland Park District and softball for Sugar and Spice. He was a huge supporter of the Panther Soccer Club and the Oswego Baseball and Softball Association. Coach Dave was the coach who would hand out big candy bars for every catch, hit or double play. Somehow, everyone would eventually get a candy bar. Dave was the outgoing coach who could fire the team up with his booming voice and make them smile. Dave worked for DuPage County where he served as a verifier for the LIHEAP program. He truly enjoyed helping others and took great satisfaction in his work. Dave was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, where he served as an usher at the 10:45 mass on Sundays. Dave’s greatest joy was his children. Whether he was coaching them, watching them from the sidelines or in the audience for a school or dance performance, he beamed with pride and love. Dave was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, much to the dismay of his many friends. He loved the Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks and was a huge fan of Oswego High School basketball and football. Dave leaves behind to cherish all of the memories his wife Patti, his daughter Micaila and his son Egan. He is also survived by his father Jim, his brother Dan, his sister-in-law Bev, his niece Kaylee, his nephews Andy and Timmy all of Snoqualmie, WA; his sister-in-law Mary Ann Reingold, his brother-in-law Chad Reingold, his niece Lilly Rose and his nephews Nicky and Tommy all of Encino, CA; his sister-in-law Robbie Twohig of Burlington, WI and his father-in-law Bob Twohig of St. Cloud, WI. In addition, he has a multitude of friends and neighbors who hold wonderful memories of him in their hearts. Dave was preceded in death by his mother Joan Marcinko and his mother-in-law Rose Mary Twohig. In his giving spirit, Dave donated to the Gift of Hope organ and tissue program. Even in death, he will continue to help others. Memorials can be made to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, the Panther Soccer Club, the Oswego Foundation for Educational Excellence or OBSA. Dave always said if he won a million dollars, he’d share it with these organizations. Visitation will be held on Sunday April 17, 2011 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at the Dunn Family Funeral Home, 1801 S. Douglas Rd. Oswego, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Monday April 18, 2011 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 701 S. Eola Rd Aurora, IL with Fr. Hugh Fullmer as celebrant.
