Sister Ellen Diez, SSSF, “Sister Doretta”, 100 passed away Tuesday April 26, 2011 at St. Joseph Convent in Campbellsport. She was born in Verdigre, NE, the daughter of the late Carl and Mary Rodgers Diez. She joined the School Sisters of St. Francis on June 12, 1928 and professed her vows on August 23, 1934. Sister served her community as a teacher and musician at various community missions including Ryan High in Omaha and as the administrator of St. Joseph Convent in Campbellsport for many years. Sister Ellen is survived by her sisters Sister Cabrini Diez,SSSF of Campbellsport, Adele Fargan of Pierre, SD and Marguerite Blaine of Huron, SD, her nieces and nephews, other relatives and the School Sisters of St. Francis Community with whom she shared her life for 83 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday May 2, 2011 at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Convent, 526 Mill St. Campbellsport. Burial will follow in Sisters Cemetery, Campbellsport.
