Bert D. Dietrich, 62, of Fond du Lac passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday April 26, 2011. He was born on Oct. 7, 1948 in Grafton, ND the son of Henry and Minnie (Thom) Dietrich. Bert served in the U. S. Army from 1968 to 1970, serving one tour of duty in Vietnam. On May 17, 1980 he married Karen Anheier at Peace Lutheran Church in Saukville. Bert worked for the Village of Saukville from 1971 to 1993 as Superintendent of Public Works, then for the Village of Algoma in 1993 and 1994 and then again in Saukville in 1995. He then worked for Hayes Brake until retiring in 2002. He was an active member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac and the Saukville VFW Post. Bert enjoyed working with his John Deer tractor, doing yard work, gardening and mowing the church lawn. Survivors include his wife Karen, his son Kert (Jennifer) of Neenah, his daughter Keri (Christopher) of Grafton, his step daughter Melissa Prunty of Lomira, his grandchildren Sam, Elizabeth, Rachel, Keely, Keegan, Kelson, Hannah, Garrett, Mallory, Gwendalinn and Tessa, his brother Duane (Clarice) of East Grand Forks, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be Friday April 29th from 4 to 7 PM at Divine Savior Lutheran Church, 1081 Prospect Ave. North Fond du Lac and on Saturday from 10 AM until Noon also at the church. Services will be held on Saturday April 30th at 12:00 Noon at Divine Savior Lutheran Church, North Fond du Lac. Rev. Al Bramstadt will officiate and burial will follow in Estabrook Cemetery, Fond du Lac, with military rites at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Divine Savior Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
