Ronald G. Cross of 342 Southlake Circle died unexpectedly May 19, 2011 in Fond du Lac. He was born May 24, 1940 in Winchester, IN, the son of Lawrence and Janis Hammer Cross. Ron’s life was shaped by the 3 tours he spent walking point in Vietnam for the US Marine Corps. On July 24, 1979 he married Beverley Gudex. After completing treatment for PTSD, he obtained a degree in social work from UW-Oshkosh in 1985 but soon acknowledged that his real skill was his ability to fix anything. He enjoyed being a part of his son David’s life and watching he and his friends mature to adulthood. He relished hunting, fishing and spending time with his special fellow vet Bud Klepps. He is survived by his wife Bev and sons, David Gudex-Cross of Fond du Lac and Ron Jr. of Anderson, IN, daughter Denise Cross of Fishers, IN, mother Janis Cross, and sister Sue (Dan) Huddleston of Anderson, IN. He is additionally survived by his sister-in-law Louise Gudex, brother-in-laws Darwin (Sharon) Gudex of Fond du Lac and Christ Gudex of Campbellsport, mother-in-law Hazel Gudex of Campbellsport, and 4 grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Jeffrey Cross and his father. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 24th at Open Circle Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 21 E. 3rd St., from 3 until 5pm with a Memorial Service at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to NAMI Fond du Lac or the OCUUF Building Fund.
