Lester William Hackbarth

Lester W. Hackbath, 88, of Fond du Lac passed away Friday September 23, 2011 at Manor Care Nursing Home in Fond du Lac. He was born in the Town of Eldorado on June 29, 1923 the son of the late William and Mary Beeschke Hackbarth. Lester served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 stationed in the Pacific. On Sept. 11, 1948 he married Rose C. Dieringer at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Campbellsport. He farmed near Theresa for 20 years from 1947 to 1967 and then worker at Mercury Marine until retiring in 1989. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Fond du Lac. Lester enjoyed hunting but most of all fishing and he helped build several cabins for family members up North. Survivors include his wife Rose, his daughter Kathleen (Kenneth) Groeschel of St. Peter, his grandchildren William Hackbarth of Fond du Lac, Michael Hackbarth of Fond du Lac, Carl (Sara) Hackbarth of Milwaukee, AmyJo (fiancée Chris Tedesco) Hackbarth of Fond du Lac, Miles Groeschel of Madison and Grant (spec. friend Liz) Groeschel of Platteville, his great grandchildren Keegan, Rowan and Amira Hackbarth, his brothers George Hackbarth of Fond du Lac and Bill Hackbarth of Armstrong, his sisters Dorothy (Leander) Lefeber of Fond du Lac, Janet (Dave) Flitter of Campbellsport and Mary (Ivan) Vorderbruggen of West Bend, his brothers-in-law Roger Lefeber of Campbellsport, Wendell Engels of Van Dyne, Henry (Eileen) Dieringer of Germantown and John (Jan) Dieringer of Campbellsport, his sisters-in-law Viola Hackbarth of Fond du Lac, Loraine (Clarence) Seibel of Campbellsport, Helen Rohlinger of Campbellsport and Ruth (Norman) Menke of West Bend, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law Larry and Shari Hackbarth, his brother Elmer Hackbarth, his sisters Joyce Lefeber and Gertrude Engels, his sisters-in-law Gloria Hackbarth and Beverly Hackbarth and his brother-in-law Gene Rohlinger. Services will be held Thursday Sept. 29th at 7:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 855 Martin Ave. Fond du Lac. Rev. Brett Naumann and Rev. Matthew Reis will officiate and entombment will be Friday in Ledgeview Memorial Park, Fond du Lac. Visitation will be Thursday Sept. 29th from 4:00 PM until time of services at the church.
