Stephen James Scannell, 67, of Kenosha, died Thursday, October 13, 2011, in Kenosha from a respiratory illness. He was born on April 4, 1944, in the Town of Osceola to Stephen H. and Mary Tonn Scannell. He graduated from Our Lady of Angels Catholic School, Armstrong, attended St. Lawrence Seminary, Mount Calvary, and graduated from St. Mary Springs High School. Steve graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and a master's degree in business. He began his career with an apprenticeship from the Falk Corp. of Milwaukee. He was employed by Falk, Renner Crane Co., Doehr Electric, Allen-Bradley Co. and Evinrude, all of Milwaukee. He was co-owner of Custom Craft Industries in Green Bay and retired as a purchasing agent for the State of Wisconsin. Steve enjoyed remodeling and was a skilled craftsman of fine furniture and Tiffany-style lamps. He was also proficient at repairing personal computers and enjoyed golfing, bowling, deer hunting, and traveling around the world. He is survived by his three sons, James and Thomas, both of Milwaukee, and Sean of Madison; a daughter Molly Ann (Chad) Ellertson of Kenosha; a daughter-in-law Guillemette Scannell of Greendale, and three grandchildren, Natasha, Stephen and Nicholas Scannell, all of Greendale. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Scannell of Armstrong; one brother, Tim (Jelaine) of Armstrong; three sisters, Maureen (William) Paffenroth of Oshkosh, Eileen (James) Mirsberger of Burlington, and Ann (Patrick) Del Ponte of Menasha, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, W1562 County Road B, Eden, the Rev. Charlie Wester officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Armstrong. Visitation will held at the church on Monday, Oct. 17, from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
