Rose C. Nett, 99, died peacefully Thurs. Nov. 17, 2011 at the St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac. She was born on Feb. 12, 1912 in Ashford, WI, the beloved daughter of the late Leonard and Agnes Leisses Hall. On one of the best days of a long life, Rose and Leo J. Nett were married on October 21, 1936 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Ashford by Fr. John Gruenwald. Mr. and Mrs. Nett resided in the Oakfield area for 11 years, before buying a farm at N5153 Hickory Road where they farmed, and raised a family over the next 49 years. After their retirement, the Nett's traveled extensively. Rose was particularly proud to have visited the Vatican, Our Lady of Fatima, Germany, Austria, Alaska, Yosemite, and her grandsons in Arizona. Leo and Rose marked their 50th wedding anniversary in 1986. Rose lived her entire life in Wisconsin. She was a beloved wife, mother, and particularly grandmother. Rose loved to read, write, cook, garden, and most importantly laugh as she had a great sense of humor. She was very positive, had a large circle of friends and acquaintances, was always smiling, and perhaps most importantly always had a kind word for everyone. Rose also was a longtime fan of the Packers since their move to Green Bay, a Brewers fan, and loved fishing, dancing, and particularly playing Sheepshead. Rose was very active in the church, and her faith was always foremost in her long life. She was a member of Holy Family Parish, a longtime faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and the Altar Society. She also was active in the Knights of Columbus, the Daughters of Isabella, the Grandmothers Club, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and regularly participated in the Loaves and Fishes Program. She resided at Francis Home for the last 10 years. Survivors include her one son E. Al (Carole) Nett of West Bend, 2 grandsons: Daniel C. (Leilani) Nett of Ringwood, IL and John M.(Jodi) Nett of Ahwatukee, AZ and two great granddaughters: Denali A. and Trinity A. Nett, and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo on May 11, 1993, three brothers: Florian, Arnold, and Leo Hall, and three sisters: Marcella Reinke, Bernice Schmitt, Eleanor Sabel ,a baby sister, and a beloved grandson Michael J. Nett. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tue. Nov. 22, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the St. Francis Chapel, 33 Everett Street in Fond du Lac, burial at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorials appreciated to masses.
