Dorothy Mae Nousen Weiss, age 96 of Fond du Lac passed away Nov. 18, 2011 at the Grancare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on July 18, 1915 in Fond du Lac, WI the daughter of Fean and Agnes (nee) Kotling Nousen. She was the youngest sister to Marion Sehe, Josephine Grainger and Genevive Brink. She was married on June 1, 1935 to Charles A. Weiss in Beloit, WI. Dorothy attended Fond du Lac Vocational and Technical School (MPTC) and received a certificate of Homemaking. Dorothy was an excellent baker, famous for her apple pie, flaky crust, Devonshire coffee cake and great home-made bread. In her earlier days she loved fishing Lake Winnebago and going to their cabin on the Wisconsin River. Dorothy and Charles were snowbirds in New Port Richey, FL and then became permanent residents. Dorothy loved to make a fashion statement and had an extensive collection of glass slippers. At 96 she was still reading romance novels and ordering wrinkle cream. Survivors include her daughter Wendy Powers-Pennau of Fond du Lac, 3 grandchildren: Holly Powers, Jeff (Shari) Powers both of Fond du Lac and Lisa (William) Aus of Star, ID great grandchildren: Tim (Emily), A.J. (LeeAnn) and Joe Powers, Tessa and Connor Aus, one great grandchild Brady, former son-in-law Robert J. Powers, special friends: Karen Silah, MarJean Roth of Fond du Lac and Hazel Ray of New Port Richey, FL, and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, her son-in-law James Pennau, three sisters: June Brink, Josephine Grainer and Marion Sehe, one niece Judith Grainger and sister-in-law Helen(Clarence) Raulf-Rosenthal. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday Dec. 2, 2011 at 12PM at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum Chapel N6250 Cty Rd K Fond du Lac. Visitation will be 11 AM to 12PM at the chapel. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the nurses and staff of Grancare Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their special attention and caring given to Dorothy during her stay.
