Marion B. Hauer, 89, died peacefully Sunday Nov. 27, 2011 at the St. Francis Home. She was born on Nov. 15, 1922 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of the late Richard and Theresa Maitre Benning. After graduating from Riverside High School, she met Albert J. Hauer at freshman registration when both were students at Marquette University. In 1944 she graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Journalism. She was married to Albert J. Hauer at St. Robert’s Catholic Church in Shorewood. Albert preceded her in death on October 7, 2003. Marion was a past president of AAUW and a chair of the annual Book Sale, she was the newsletter editor of Compassionate Friends, on the Fond du Lac Library Board and the Hazel Stephenson Scholarship committee. Marion was a member of the Lawyer’s Wives of WI, Meals on Wheels, Heritage Club and the League of Women Voters. She loved to bowl and played bridge for over 60 years. Since her husband”s death Marion resided at St. Clare’s Terrace, St. Francis Terrace and St. Francis Home. Marion was a member of Holy Family Parish and a former member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Survivors include 4 children: MaryBeth (Peter) Plane of Madison, Christine (Mike) Arrowood of Oakfield, Albert C. and William both of Fond du Lac, daughter in-law Debbie Hauer of Sheboygan, 8 grandchildren: Karen (Dennis Schneider) Arrowood, Lara Arrowood, Colleen (William) Kluza, Richard (Lisa) Hauer, Kathryn Plane, Daniel (Tatiana Berindei) Plane, Brian and Michele Hauer, 6 great grandchildren: Rachel, Drew, Ethan, Sebastian, Benjamin and London, and her sister Audrey Benning of Elm Grove and many other relatives and friends. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert, 3 sons: Richard, Thomas, and Michael. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Fri. Dec. 2, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the St. Francis Chapel, 33 Everett Street in Fond du Lac, entombment at Chapel of the Risen Christ, Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the St. Francis Chapel from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. Memorials appreciated to the AAUW Scholarship Fund c/o Fond du Lac Area Foundation 384 N. Main St. FDL.
