Bonnie (Bonita) D. Weiland Hare, 62, of Campbellsport died Tuesday March 6, 2012 with her husband Pat and family members at her side after a year long battle with cancer. She was born June 28, 1949 in Campbellsport to Leander and Elizabeth Thelen Weiland. On July 9, 1994 she married Patrick Hare at St. Kilian Catholic Church, Campbellsport. A graduate of Campbellsport High School, Bonnie continued her education by earning her teaching degree in History/English and her master’s in guidance and counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. She taught at Campbellsport Middle and High School for 14 years before transferring in 1986 to Moraine-Park Technical College in Beaver Dam, where she was a counselor for 25 years, until her recent retirement. In 2008, she began her personal business and was president of Hare Career and College Consulting, LLC. As passionate as Bonnie was about her professional life, her passion for gardening blossomed in her free time. When asked how she handled such a demanding schedule, her reply was: “Everyone needs to find a balance. My getaway is gardening.” This passion led her to attain the status of master gardener. She spent countless hours beautifying her residence, which had been the family farm. As a result, her gardens were featured in Birds and Blooms and Backyard Living. She truly believed in her favorite quote: “All things grow with love.” In her family, Bonnie was known the one who made everything “special” for others. Just as she spent hours planning flowerbeds; she meticulously developed a different theme each Christmas for her decorations. A highlight for her book club was to come to the annual holiday party and see her decorations. When Bonnie managed to take a break, she and Pat traveled to Door County, her favorite vacation spot, at least twice a year, to stay at The Wooden Heart. Bonnie’s belief in education’s importance is evident in her extensive professional accomplishments. Following are the numerous professional roles in which she served: Wisconsin Association for Career and Technical Education (WATCE), member since 1986; President of WACTE, 2001-2002; Served on and chaired the professional development committee since 1986; President, President Elect to the WACTE Board of Directors; Region III Policy Committee; Conference Committee Chair (1969) and member; In charge of Workshops for the Association, but her pride was the yearly Student Services Conference; Will be recognized and receive the Longevity Award in April for 25 years of service to WACTE; Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE), member since 1986; Delegate and exhibitor for ACTE annual convention; Region III Policy Committee member for 6 years; Awards Chair for Region III; Led the major effort to improve collaboration between all CTTE organizations. 1991-a nominee for Vocational Association Professional Excellence Award-Support Services; 2000-a nominee for Specialty Services Member; Wisconsin Education Fairs (WEF)-Executive Board member since 2009; Wisconsin Association of College Counseling-member since 2008; Wisconsin School Counselor Association, Inc.-board member; National Association of College Admission Counseling-member since 2009; Independent Educational Consultants Association-member since 2009.
