Sister Patricia Blackbird, SSSF, “Sister Gabrielle, 85, passed away Monday March 12, 2012 at St. Joseph Convent, Campbellsport. She was born in Fond du Lac on June 8, 1926 the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (nee Norton) Blackbird. Sisters joined the School Sisters of St. Francis on June 13, 1948 and professed her vows on June 21, 1950. Sister Patricia served her community as a teacher at various community missions. Sister Patricia is survived by her sister Sr. Celesta Blackbird, SSSF of Campbellsport, her brothers Robert (Stephanie) Blackbird of Green Bay, Al Blackbird of Livingston, TX, and Jim Mangan, her nephews and nieces Dr. Kevin and Vicki Derus of Milwaukee and Jeff and Lori Derus of Elm Grove, her great niece Christy Kole, her cousins June Straus of Fond du Lac and Len and Gail Straus of Big Bend, other relatives, friends and the School Sisters of St. Francis Community with whom she shared her life for 64 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday March 16, 2012 at 1:30 PM at St. Joseph Convent, 526 Mill St. Campbellsport. Burial will follow in Sisters Cemetery, Campbellsport.
