Arthur Zahn, 85, of Campbellsport went to his heavenly home on Tuesday April 24, 2012 at his home in New Prospect. He was born June 8, 1926 in Sheboygan the son of the late Christian and Maria Gossman Zahn. On Oct. 16, 1954, Art married Armella O. Schrauth at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport. After finishing high school, Art joined the U.S. Army serving during WW II. After the war, Art attended UW-Milwaukee studying business. He worked in the office at Gallon Tannery in Milwaukee and then as an executive secretary for Standard Oil. He then owned and operated a Standard Oil franchise in Milwaukee for 10 years. In 1972 Art and Armella started Zahn’s Trading Post in New Prospect which the family still operates and he worked for Fond du Lac County maintenance for 17 years. Art enjoyed artwork and brought smiles and joy to people through his drawings. He also enjoyed music, history, nature and business not only as an occupation but as an integral part of his life but he is best known for never complaining, his sense of humor and for the love and joy he found in providing for his family. Survivors include his wife Armella, his daughter Mary (Joseph) Straub of Campbellsport, his sons James Arthur Zahn Campbellsport and Steven Michael (Kari) Zahn of West St. Paul, MN, his grandchildren Jason (Joleen) Straub, Jacqueline Straub, Jeremy Straub, Emma Hartigan, Nathan Zahn and Henry Zahn, his great grandchildren Jazmine, Jordan and Jayden, his brother Robert (Sophie) Zahn, his step-brother Richard Zahn, his step-sisters Katrina Eve and Christina Zahn, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Crystal Straub and his brothers Leo and Albert Zahn. Visitation will be Sunday April 29th at St. Matthew’s Church, Campbellsport, from 3:00 PM until time of Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sunday April 29, 2012 at 6:00 PM at St. Matthew’s Church in Campbellsport. Rev. Neil Zinthefer will officiate and burial with military honors will be Monday April 30th at 9:00 AM at St. Mathias Cemetery in the Town of Auburn.
