Mary E. Vorderbruggen(nee Hackbarth), 72, of West Bend passed away Saturday April 28, 2012 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, surrounded by her loving family, following a long battle with cancer. She was born on May 23, 1939 in rural Armstrong the daughter of William and Mary Beeschke Hackbarth. She graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1958. She married Ivan Vorderbruggen on May 7, 1960 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Armstrong, WI. Together Mary and Ivan founded and operated Vorderbruggen Electric, Inc. in Kewaskum from 1969 to 1987, then retiring to spend winters in Florida and Arizona. Mary was a very loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very proud of her family and never forgot a birthday or anniversary. She was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Parish for 45 years. Mary was an excellent cook. She loved to plant flowers, make crafts and design silk flower arrangements. . Mary is survived by her husband Ivan of West Bend, 3 children: Renee(Andy) Kempfer of Kewaskum, Scott (Ellen) Vorderbruggen of Kewaskum and Michele (Curt) Schicker of West Bend, 9 grandchildren: Patrick and Erin Kempfer, Nicole, Rachel, Sarah and Alex Vorderbruggen and Tabitha, Hailey and Breanna Schicker, 2 brothers: George Hackbarth of Fond du Lac and William Hackbarth of Armstrong, 2 sisters: Dorothy (Leander) Lefeber of Fond du Lac and Janet (Dave) Flitter of Campbellsport, 2 brother-in-laws: Roger Lefeber of Campbellsport and Wendell Engels of VanDyne and 3 sister-in-laws: Viola and Rose Hackbarth of Fond du Lac and Laurene (John) Becker of Campbellsport; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law Paul(Martha) Vorderbruggen, sisters: Gertrude Engels and Joyce Lefeber, brothers: Lester and Elmer Hackbarth and an infant brother, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Beverly and Gloria Hackbarth, Marvin Vorderbruggen, Alvin and Mary Vorderbruggen, nieces and nephews: Richard Hackbarth, Joanne Lefeber, Larry and Shari Hackbarth, Wayne, Nathanel and Marilynn Hackbarth and Richard Vorderbruggen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thurs. May 3rd at 12:00 PM at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 1610 Monroe St. West Bend. Rev. John Radetski will officiate and burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in West Bend. Visitation will be Thursday May 3rd at the church from 10AM until Noon. Memorials to St. Mary’s Catholic School 415 Roosevelt St. West Bend would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to thank the staff at the Froedtert Hospital Cancer Clinics, Day Hospital, and on Floors 4NT, 4NW and 3NW, especially nurses Casey and Robert, nurse practioner Kristine and Drs.
